Education as a Path Forward
Continuing Education
A record should not be the end of someone's education — it should be the beginning of a new chapter. Reentry Worldwide connects residents to the programs, credentials, and pathways they need to build a future.
Learning Opens Doors That Records Try to Close
Education is one of the most powerful tools in a successful reentry. Research consistently shows that returning citizens who pursue education during and after incarceration are significantly less likely to return to prison — and significantly more likely to secure stable employment, higher wages, and long-term independence.
At Reentry Worldwide, continuing education is not an afterthought — it is a core component of every resident's personalized reentry plan. Our case managers assess each resident's educational background, identify gaps and goals, and connect them to the right programs at the right time.
Educational Pathways We Support
GED & High School Equivalency
For residents who did not complete high school, earning a GED or HiSET credential is the critical first step. We connect residents to local testing centers, prep programs, and tutoring support to help them cross that finish line.
Vocational & Trade Training
Skilled trades offer some of the most accessible and well-paying career paths for returning citizens. We connect residents to programs in construction, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, culinary arts, auto repair, and more.
Industry Certifications
From forklift operation and OSHA safety to CDL licensing, food handler permits, and IT certifications, we help residents earn the credentials that employers actually require — and that open doors quickly.
Community College Programs
For residents ready to pursue an associate degree or transfer pathway, we connect them to community college enrollment support, financial aid guidance, and academic advising — including programs designed specifically for returning citizens.
Four-Year College Pathways
Some residents are ready to pursue a bachelor's degree. We help them navigate admissions processes, identify colleges with fair-chance policies, and access scholarships and grants available to formerly incarcerated students.
Digital Literacy & Technology
Basic computer skills, email, and digital tools are now prerequisites for most employment. We connect residents to digital literacy programs that build the foundational tech skills the modern workforce demands.
How We Support Your Education
Educational Assessment
Your case manager reviews your educational history, identifies your goals, and assesses any barriers — time, transportation, childcare, learning differences — that need to be addressed upfront.
Program Matching
Based on your goals and circumstances, your case manager identifies the right programs, schedules, and formats — in-person, online, or hybrid — and makes warm referrals to enrollment coordinators.
Enrollment Support
We help residents navigate the paperwork, applications, financial aid forms, and background check disclosures that can make enrollment feel overwhelming. You do not have to figure it out alone.
Ongoing Accountability
Your case manager checks in regularly on your progress, helps you troubleshoot obstacles, and adjusts your plan if your educational goals evolve. Education is a long game — we stay in it with you.
"Education is not just about getting a job. It is about reclaiming your identity, proving something to yourself, and building a life you are proud of. We believe every person in our program is capable of that — and we will do everything we can to help them get there."
